One of our favorite museums in Switzerland is the Swiss open-air museum Ballenberg. We spent half of a day there before continuing our journey to the hamlet of Gimmelwald. Click the photo below to see the full album.
We spent one day on an excursion called the Chocolate Train. It included a train ride at sitting at the front of the train, getting the front-row view the conductor normally sees, a visit to a Gruyere cheese factory, and a Cailler chocolate factory. Click the photo below for the full album.
We only spent a half day in the charming city of Montreux. After a few hours visiting the Château de Chillon, and we walked along Lake Geneva back to Montreux. Click the image below to see the full album.
The photos from our stay in Zermatt are ready. Unfortunately, the Glacier Paradise lifts were closed for maintenance while we were there, but we did take the Gornergrat train, and photos from that journey are included. Click the image below to see the full album.
We took the Glacier Express from St. Moritz to Zermatt. Click the picture below to see the full album from this long, but scenic and comfortable train journey.
We visited the Upper Engadin region of Switzerland, which has three charming towns in close proximity: Samedan, St. Moritz, and Pontresina. Unfortunately, it was right in their off season, so many places were closed and the towns were deserted. We only ended up staying there for one night. The album includes photos from the Bernina Express journey. Click the photo below to see the full album.
We spent one night in Lugano. Click the photo below to see the full album.
We are obviously slowing down with posting photos, but another album is ready for your viewing pleasure: Mount Pilatus. We ascended via gondola about halfway, to a cable car station. Before going all the way to the top, we did some activities in the area including a summer toboggan run. Unfortunately we weren’t able to capture the actual toboggan run on camera, as that was forbidden. On the other side of the mountain, we descended via an incredibly steep cogwheel train.
Lauren is out of town, and she is the one responsible for the captions, so it will be some days before another album is ready. Click the picture below to view the full set.
A big album of our three days/nights in Luzern is ready. The Mount Pilatus photos will be in a separate album. Click the picture below to view all the photos.
We spent one night in the Appenzell region. Before going to our lodge on Ebenalp, we did the barefoot walk. We planned to do a lot more hiking here, but the weather did not cooperate with these plans, and some of the trails we were looking forward to were closed due to avalanches. The full album can be seen by clicking the picture below.
